Mustang Cat is actively hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians for both shop and field service roles in El Campo, Texas. In this hands-on position, you’ll repair and maintain Caterpillar construction equipment-from compact machinery to large earthmoving units-supporting job sites and customers across the region.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a skilled diesel mechanic who enjoys diagnostics, independence, and the satisfaction of returning machines to top performance.

What You’ll Do as a Heavy Equipment Technician:

As a Caterpillar Diesel Mechanic, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and repairing diesel-powered equipment both in the shop and out in the field. Responsibilities include:

* Diagnose and repair Caterpillar and allied-brand construction equipment
* Perform diagnostics using Cat ET and other software tools
* Service electrical, hydraulic, fuel, and undercarriage systems
* Complete preventative maintenance and parts installation
* Restore equipment to working condition in a shop or field setting
* Operate independently or collaborate with service mentors as needed

Requirements:

* Must own the tools necessary to perform repairs
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Knowledge of transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, fuel systems
* Strong understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
* experience using Cat ET or similar diagnostic software
* Prior experience in construction equipment service or military equipment repair

Strongly Preferred Experience:

* Welding and fabrication (MIG, arc welding, gouging, torch use)
* Experience with hydraulic pumps, valves, and motor components
* Manufacturer or dealership training in construction equipment repair
* Familiarity with Caterpillar or competitor brand machinery

Heavy Equipment Technician levels and compensation are based on skill set, experience, and training.
