FCA Packaging creates and manufactures innovative wood packaging solutions. Our builders manufacture wood pallets, boxes, and crates and we are looking for a Truck Driver for our Kent, WA facility.
Overview:
The CDL Truck Driver experience is required to serve our supply chain logistics department in a safe and timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transporting finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants, retail, or distribution centers
- Inspecting vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
- Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
- Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
- Input proper information into Geotab and automated systems for each stage of the loading and unloading process when necessary
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Collect and verify delivery instructions
- Report defects, accidents, or violations
Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as a CDL Truck Driver
- Experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, Geotab)
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
- Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations
- Valid CDL
- Valid Fed Med Card
education and/or Experience
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Prior experience as a CDL Truck Driver is required
- Candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in similar role.
- Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents in English, and communicate those out effectively. Bilingual skills are preferred, but not required. Professional communication is required.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to calculate figures and use basic math skills.
- Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to work in a computer system generating reports and metrics.
- Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
