Description SUMMARY The Orthopedic Technician Certified or Athletic Trainer Certified will work under general direction and with latitude for independent judgment. Contributes to department activities and supports enhancement of the care delivery system at the outpatient orthopedic level, works as a team member and assists other staff members with implementing patient care.STATUS: Full Time LOCATION: Orthopedics – 1445 Portland Ave, Suite 210DEPARTMENT: OrthopedicsSCHEDULE: Monday- Friday, Days jobs-near-me.org 8:00am – 4:30pmATTRIBUTESBachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, or Bachelor’s in a related field with internship route certification in Athletic Training.New York State licensure as an Athletic Trainer. Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) Current Orthopedic Technician certification through National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists (NBCOT.) CPR certification requiredRESPONSIBILITIES Performs application of casts and splints.Removal of sutures and staples.Dispenses and performs brace fitting for patients.Performs rooming and care of the orthopedic patient (vital signs/patient rooming requirements, eRecord screening, room turnover, provider procedure support).Ensures accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.Assumes responsibility of care for assigned patients under the direction of the MD/PA/NP.Participates in patient education as outlined in the plan of care.Assists in the identification of patient and family needs.Participates in plan of care for patients.Implements appropriate clinical interventions, and contributes to patient/family education through collection of data, interdisciplinary team collaboration, documentation, and excellent communication.Identifies basic age specific, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families.Clearly communicates patient’s needs to appropriate members of the care team.Recognizes obvious changes in patient status seeking appropriate resources to address concerns.May train and coordinate activities of peer and support staff.Carries out other clinical duties as assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M – Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.PAY RANGE: $19.75 – $27.50 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
