Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated five-year USAID-funded Bangladesh Wildlife Conservation Activity. The Activity will aim to improve the protection of key wildlife species and their habitat in Bangladesh. Activities will mitigate threats to wildlife and habitats, reduce consumer demand, improve political commitment and coordination, improve traceability of illegal logging and wildlife, and improve sustainable management of forest and aquatic resources. Chief of Party
Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership, management, and technical direction to oversee and deliver project results and serve as the primary liaison with USAID on strategic, managerial, and technical matters, including responsibility for making key decisions and solving programmatic problems in a timely manner
- Oversee all contractual and budgetary aspects of program management
- Professionally represent Chemonics to USAID, the host country government, local partners, and other program stakeholders
- Ensure that work plan, M&E, and reporting efforts are aligned with contract requirements, project objectives, and USAID guidance
- Build and lead an adaptive team to monitor and modify project initiatives based on consistent evidence and data to achieve results, and ensure technically sound and politically savvy activities are implemented effectively
- Ensure the activity meets high standards for performance and integrity that comply with applicable regulations and Chemonics policies
- Establish and maintain relationships with national and local government officials, CSOs, local partners, and other development partners and USAID implementers
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree preferred in zoology, wildlife conservation, natural resource management, biology, environmental science or policy, or a related field
- Minimum 10 years of technical experience in some or all of the following technical areas: wildlife conservation; combatting wildlife crime/illegal logging; environmental governance; sustainable management of forest or aquatic/marine resources
- Proven leadership in the design, management, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of donor-funded programs
- USAID Chief of Party experience is strongly preferred, with other management experience including but not limited to holding a project leadership role required
- Extensive experience working with counterparts at various levels in a development context
- Experience in the region is preferred.
- Fluency in English required, proficiency in Bengali is a plus
