Child Protection (CP) Prevention Officer

The Child Protection (CP) Prevention Officer will be responsible for implementing activities under the Life Skills and Resilience Program and the Girls Shine Initiative, designed to empower children, adolescents, and young women through skills development, resilience building, and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention. This role will focus on creating safe, inclusive environments for program participants while promoting positive social behaviors, emotional well-being, and leadership skills.

The officer will collaborate with facilitators, counselors, and stakeholders to deliver interactive sessions, ensure accessibility for participants with disabilities, and address gender stereotypes to foster equality and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Program Implementation:
    • Lead the implementation of the Life Skills and Resilience Program for children and adolescents aged 6–15, tailoring activities to their developmental needs.
    • Support the delivery of the Girls Shine Initiative for adolescent girls and young women aged 15–24, focusing on empowerment, leadership, and GBV prevention.
    • Facilitate engaging sessions using interactive methods such as games, storytelling, role-playing, group discussions, and collaborative tasks.
    • Ensure accessibility for children with disabilities by adapting activities and materials to meet their needs.
  2. Participant Engagement and Support:
    • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where participants feel comfortable expressing themselves.
    • Address emotional challenges with guidance from a CP counselor to ensure the psychological well-being of participants.
    • Promote positive peer relationships and reduce stigma through confidence-building exercises and discussions.
  3. Community Awareness and Outreach:
    • Raise awareness of child protection issues through prevention-focused interventions targeting families, schools, and communities.
    • Foster collaboration with parents, caregivers, and community leaders to reinforce gender-equitable attitudes and behaviors.
    • Support the organization of workshops and campaigns to address gender stereotypes and advocate for violence prevention.
  4. Data Collection and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of participant progress and session outcomes.
    • Conduct pre- and post-assessments to evaluate the impact of prevention activities.
    • Contribute to reports and feedback for program improvement.
  5. Coordination and Capacity Building:
    • Work closely with facilitators, CP counselors, and the project team to ensure quality delivery of program activities.
    • Participate in capacity-building initiatives to enhance skills in child protection and GBV prevention methodologies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in child protection, GBV prevention, or related roles.
  • Familiarity with interactive teaching methods and group facilitation techniques.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and inclusive education practices.
  • Fluency in Arabic; English proficiency is an advantage.
