Clerical Assistant 2

The Department of Environmental Protection is searching for an energetic, efficient, and detail oriented individual to fill a Clerical Assistant 2 position in the Regional Office in Norristown, Pennsylvania. This position is assigned to the Business Management Program and provides support to the Regional Director’s Office (RDO), the Assistant Regional Director’s Office (ARD) and the Radiation Protection Program (RP). The primary responsibility of this position includes: answering telephone inquiries, processing mail, providing clerical support to the technical staff, and performing general clerical duties.

In this position you will support the Radiation Protection program by confirming compliance-related appointments, scheduling conference rooms, managing mail for managers and supervisors, and proofreading Civil Penalty and Notice of Violation (N.O.V.) documents. It also includes preparing reports on delinquent registrants and issued NOVs for supervisory review. Additional responsibilities involve answering telephone inquiries regarding x-ray registration, radioactive material licenses, and environmental radiation monitoring programs, as well as preparing various inspection and delinquency reports.

The position requires accurately entering data into DEP electronic systems in accordance with established data quality standards and utilizing tools to reduce duplicate entries and data issues. Duties also involve processing incoming and outgoing mail, managing confidential information by flushing sensitive records prior to public review, and assisting Records Management with file inquiries when needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday thru Friday with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown, Pennsylvania. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Graduation from high school; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
