Town of HampsteadOur client, the Town of Hampstead, is seeking a Clerk and Legal Counsel to support its team.Reporting to the Director General, you will be the sole in-house legal counsel. At least half of your time will be spent coordinating monthly or special Town Council meetings and public consultation meetings, for which you will act as Secretary: issuing notices, preparing agendas and minutes, following up on required signatures and approvals, etc. You will also be called upon to provide general legal advice on a regular basis, whether it be on matters relating to municipal by-laws, the application of laws governing municipal management or the sale of properties for non-payment of taxes, for example. You will also act as a point of contact for the Town’s external lawyers, be responsible for the application of the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies, etc.Are you interested in the municipal environment and want to join a tight-knit team?
