Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.Your role in our mission…As the Clinical Director for Primary Care, you will play a pivotal role in providing clinical and care leadership across primary care areas across London and the Home Counties (LHC) to enhance palliative and end-of-life care.With a focus on General Practice, you will support Marie Curie’s integration with wider networks, working meticulously to improve access, outcomes in Palliative & EOL care, and reduce health inequalities.Reporting to the AD of LHC and providing a deputy function when needed, you will co-lead primary care improvement initiatives with the Medical Director, ensuring alignment with LHC partner strategies.You will develop ambitious approaches to improve PEOLC, promote collective responsibility for pathway development, and manage PEOLC quality across LHC by collaborating with key partners and regulators.Additionally, you will represent clinically on NCL ICB committees, support NCL ICB priorities, and provide clinical leadership to ensure services are robust and sustainableKey Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Collaboration: Strengthen Marie Curie’s clinical and professional collaboration across primary care in LHC, and work with colleagues to join up and coordinate efforts to deliver commissioner priorities.
  • Strategic Development: Shape and deliver LHC-wide priorities for Primary Care, providing strategic, clinical, and professional leadership.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders including provider collaboratives, local stakeholders, and local communities to deliver better care and outcomes.
  • Transformational Work: Lead and participate in transformational work to deliver Marie Curie’s strategic framework and commissioner priorities, ensuring a consistent approach across North Central London.

Additional criteria for success:

  • Clinical/ care professional qualification educated to Masters degree level or equivalent.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the health challenges and priorities faced across PEOLC, with a particular focus on primary care, as well as an understanding of local communities and the health and care landscape.
  • Knowledge of the health, care and local government landscape and an understanding of the resourcing implications and financial planning and budgeting
  • Practising clinician with relevant clinical/care professional experience, with the ability to lead, motivate and work collegiately
  • Strong critical thinking and strategic problem solving; the ability to contribute to a joint strategic plan and undertake problem resolution and action.
