Clinical Fellow in Medical Oncology

The role is contracted at 40 hours per week (full time) for a fixed term of 12 months. This role does not currently have an agreed rota commitment. The post holder will be employed by The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and will be based at The Christie. The successful applicant would be expected to work alongside consultants and trainees in out-patient clinics, supervising chemotherapy delivery and performing on-treatment reviews and follow-up assessments.The appointee will be a Locally Employed Doctor in Medical OncologyThe employing authority is The Christie NHS Foundation TrustThey will be managerially accountable to the Clinical Director of the Directorate of Medical OncologyThey will be professionally responsible to the consultants in whose clinics they will be supporting.The post-holder will be assigned a clinical supervisor (Consultant Medical Oncologist). They will work alongside their supervisor at least one clinic.We have opportunities to work alongside our clinical teams in germ cell tumours, head and neck cancer, thyroid cancer and breast cancer. However, if you are interested in a different tumour site, please have a conversation with us.Main duties of the jobDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibility for attending out patients at the Christie and peripheral sites and support of the ORTC outpatient chemotherapy unit.In the out-patient clinics they will be expected to review and manage patients on chemotherapy, review patients and new patients. All of this will be done under the clinical supervision of the team consultant.They will be expected to teach junior medical staff, medical students and nurses on occasion.The post holder should have experience in oncology at a senior level.They will be expected to take part in audit and research.About usThe Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year.
