The Antenatal Clinic at the prestigious Imperial College Healthcare – Queen Charlottes Hospital is looking for an experienced midwife who is confident, knowledgeable and dedicated in their Maternity Safeguarding Skills. You will be based in Antenatal Clinic, Monday to Friday. This is a full-time post.The post holder will be highly visible in the antenatal clinic setting providing specialist knowledge, clinical care, expertise and and as a champion will provide extra support to the antenatal midwifery team.The post holder will provide maternity safeguarding assurance to the multidisciplinary team as a whole. Informal visits will be welcomed.Main duties of the job

  • Act a clinical expert within sphere of work.
  • To lead and co-ordinate the day to day care of vulnerable pregnant women/people within the antenatal clinic living out of catchment area.
  • To provide visible, effective leadership across maternity, working closely with the safeguarding and other staff teams to deliver on the standards required.
  • To report to the outpatients maternity matron any safeguarding children and young people and the unborn issues of concern/progress to be shared with other multidisciplinary /agencies.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure that vulnerable pregnant women/people and their families receive appropriate information about support and services in a sensitive manner.
  • Lead and support with care for vulnerable groups of women and birthing people such as teenagers, drug dependant, asylum seekers, travellers, disabilities, victims of domestic abuse, child protection concerns etc
  • Ensure that all policies, guidelines and distributed information relating to vulnerable women are evidenced based and appropriate, and they are adhered to ensuring best professional practice.
  • To work in partnership with a wide range of agencies to achieve the highest standards of care.
  • To undertake research and audit in relation to safeguarding children and young people in order to gain new information and to inform future practice.

  • Teaching Qualification Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA)
  • Registered Midwife

Desirable criteria

  • Safeguarding supervision qualification

ExperienceEssential criteria

  • Experience of team working and liaison with other agencies
  • Knowledge of current safeguarding legislation/guidance
  • Awareness of current professional issues within Midwifery/NHS
  • Awareness of Equality, diversity and inclusion

Skills/knowledge/ abilitiesEssential criteria

  • Evidence of undertaking a role working with pregnant Women/People in a maternity unit
  • Proven people management skills
  • Ability to prioritise clinical workload according to need and make decisions accordingly

Desirable criteria

  • Ability to provide safeguarding supervision
  • Have completed audits and shared the learning
