Summary

Responsible for all aspects of the CNC Lathe operation in the production of precision aerospace components.

Compensation and Benefits Offered

Actual base salary offered to the selected applicant will be based on their work location, qualifications, job related skills, relevant education, and training experience.

Base hourly rate range Minimum $23.00 – Maximum $28.00 Depending on experience. A shift differential is offered for night shift positions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Other tasks and duties may be required as directed.

  • Set-up, adjust and write programs for CNC Multi-Axis Lathe Machine
  • Oversee the operation and setups of multi-axis CNC Lathe Machine.
  • Make proper offsets and adjustments to ensure parts are acceptable.
  • Responsible for the efficient utilization of machinery including the use of automatic features, and the output of quality product.
  • Select the proper work holding equipment, and ensure competitive removal rates and set-up times are maintained or advanced.
  • Notifies Shop Manager or Lead if any set-up or total run-time will exceed the standard.
  • Responsible for performing the job function of the programmer on an as needed basis.
  • Create and edit manual data input (MDI) machine tool codes at the machine control.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the machine tools.
  • Adjust speeds, feeds, and offsets as required.
  • Seek and document lean process improvement ideas.
  • Responsible for meeting production standards.
  • Assist Cell Leader in maintaining production dispatch report on time.
  • Must have knowledge of work holding and tooling methodology and hardware.
  • Must have knowledge and experience in cutting tool selection
  • Should have experience in the creation of Process Validation

Qualification Requirements

  • Education/Experience
    • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
    • 3-5 years of related experience or training
    • Proficient with ESPIRIT/MasterCAM programming software
    • Prior experience with Okuma CNC machines
  • Language Skills
    • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write in simple correspondence.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one to supervisors and other employees.
  • Math Skills
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Skills
    • Ability to understand and follow instructions conveyed through written, verbal, or diagrammatic means.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer/ Office Skills
    • Basic windows/internet browser
    • ERP/Inventory
    • Blueprint reading
    • Strong Mechanical Aptitude

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical Demands
    • Frequent Activities: Standing, typing, handling objects, reaching, , talking/hearing, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs.
    • Occasional activities: Sitting, walking, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50lbs
    • Rare activities: Climbing/balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting/pushing/pulling heavy weights (100+ lbs)

    • Frequent: Close vision, ability to adjust focus,
    • Occasional: Distance vision, computer work, peripheral vision, depth perception,
    • Rare: Color vision
  • Work Environment
    • Frequent exposure: Mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, moderate-to-loud noise
    • Occasional exposure: Vibrations, very loud noise.
    • Rare exposure: Outdoor weather conditions, high places, electrical shock, and, and very quiet or quiet noise levels.
