Job Title: Lathe Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Lathe Machinist, and an Entry Level Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of machinery, recommending improvements, maintaining safety and housekeeping standards, and completing necessary documentation. We are open to hiring Entry Level Machinist out of Trades School or AJAC background, as well as experienced Lathe Machinist (pay will be compensated accordingly, pay range is $22 – $40).

Responsibilities

  • Notify supervisor of abnormal situations for corrective action.
  • Make recommendations for improvements in methods of performance of work.
  • Maintain good housekeeping conditions and enforce safety practices.
  • Complete and maintain any required documentation.

Essential Skills

  • Strong Geometric Dimensional & Tolerances and math skills.
  • Ability to read machining CNC programs and have a basic understanding of common ‘G’ and ‘M’ codes.
  • experience with Siemens controls for lathe machine tools.
  • Understanding of basic tabletop gauges – Micrometers, Calipers, plug gauges, and bore micrometers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferably someone with a trade school or AJAC background.
  • Manual machining and manual mill/lathe experience.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Problem solving and analysis capabilities.

Work Environment

The role is based in an aerospace machine workshop with shifts available on weekdays and weekends. Weekend days run from Friday to Sunday, 5am to 5:30pm, and weekday nights from Monday to Thursday, 5pm to 5:30am. There are also Level 3/journeyman machinist positions available on the 2nd shift from Monday to Friday, 3:30pm to midnight.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 – $30.00/hr.
