Collections Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for generating, reviewing, and processing invoices accurately and in a timely manner. You will ensure compliance with company policies, contractual agreements, and regulatory requirements, while reconciling billing discrepancies and resolving customer billing issues. Additionally, you will maintain and update customer billing accounts and records, prepare and distribute billing drafts for management review, and collaborate with internal departments to resolve billing concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, review, and process invoices accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual agreements, and regulatory requirements.

  • Reconcile billing discrepancies and resolve customer billing issues.

  • Maintain and update customer billing accounts and records.

  • Prepare and distribute billing drafts for management review.

  • Collaborate with internal departments, including Operations, Collections, Contracting/Budgeting, and Customer Service, to resolve billing concerns.

Essential Skills

  • 2-3+ years of experience in Collections, Accounts Receivable, or Billing.

  • Great communication skills (written and oral).

  • Strong attention to detail and goal-oriented.

  • Tech-savvy, with experience using HighRadius.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1 – 3 years of Corporate Collections experience with similar customer portfolios preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both internally and externally.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Superior organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of Billing, Collections, and Accounts Receivable is a plus.

  • Commitment to excellent customer service.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position, currently in office Monday through Friday. The workday is 8 hours with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, and flexible start times between 7 am to 9 am (as long as it is a set schedule every day). The office is organized in pit-style cubicles, so you must be comfortable working in an open environment with others. Free parking is available for employees at a garage next to the office, and the office is located 3 blocks from the Bethesda Metro. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 – $27.00/hr.

Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
