Commercial Lending Real Estate Associate

Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking an experienced Associate to join our Real Estate practice in the Commercial Lending Department of the Firm’s New York office. The group’s clients include banks, insurance companies, other institutional lenders and the finance arms of major conglomerates, in their capacity as both lenders and investors. Representative transaction structures and property types include construction and permanent financing of multi-family developments, hotels, energy facilities, multi-use projects and medical office buildings.

The successful candidate will have 3-7 years of real estate and/or finance legal experience as well as familiarity or experience with the following:

• Drafting and negotiating mortgages and other common real estate documents
• Reviewing, drafting and negotiating loan agreements and guaranties
• Title and survey review
• Real estate closings
• Working knowledge of environmental issues in real estate transactions

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the above issues as they relate to the perspective of banks and institutional investors as well as developers, landlords, credit tenants and real estate investors.

Strong academic credentials as well as superior interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills required. Commitment to client service is critical, as is the ability to handle fast-paced transactions and juggle multiple projects and deadlines. Successful candidates will project a professional presence, demonstrate flexibility in work situations, and be willing to accept constructive feedback.

Candidates must be members in good standing or eligible to waive into the New York Bar.

In accordance with the New York Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this New York position is between $260,000 and $420,000.
