Position Summary:

Feed the Children is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communications Officer to lead content creation and storytelling efforts in the Philippines. This role is responsible for generating engaging, high-quality content—including success stories, photos, short videos, reports, and social media posts—while also building a consistent narrative that reflects our impact across programs.

You will work closely with program staff, both in the field and at the national office in Cebu City, Philippines, to gather and produce communication materials that bring our mission to life. Your storytelling should help “stitch” together the voices, visuals, and data from different activities into a compelling and cohesive representation of Feed the Children’s work.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Generation & Storytelling

  • Identify and develop human-interest stories, photo essays, video snippets, and social media content that reflect program impact.
  • Conduct field visits or coordinate remotely with field staff to collect stories, quotes, images, and footage.
  • Ensure all communications outputs follow safeguarding and consent protocols.
  • Write and edit compelling success stories and donor-friendly narratives, ensuring quality and alignment with international standards.
  • Capture or direct high-quality photographs and video interviews to support storytelling and reporting.

Communications & Media Management

  • Plan and implement PR and communications strategies that promote the organization’s work.
  • Manage and grow the Feed the Children Philippines’ social media presence, especially Facebook.
  • Design or coordinate the production of communication materials (e.g., flyers, brochures, reports, banners, IEC tools).
  • Liaise with national and local media to support advocacy and visibility efforts.

Coordination & Narrative Development

  • Actively contribute to an ongoing narrative by connecting local stories to regional and global communications themes.
  • Collaborate with communications counterparts in other countries to share content and align messages.
  • Ensure that the communications outputs support and reflect the strategic priorities of Feed the Children globally.
  • Submit stories and reports to the Senior Director of International Communications for global use.

Internal Communications & Documentation

  • Maintain a well-organized database and content library for all communications materials.
  • Support program documentation, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Assist in preparing donor reports, monthly updates, and internal briefings.
  • Promote internal awareness of communications efforts and encourage cross-department collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Development Studies, Communication Development or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or content creation—preferably in a humanitarian or development context.
  • Strong writing, interviewing, photography, and basic video production skills.
  • Graphic design experience (e.g., Canva, and Adobe tools) is a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in social media management and analytics (especially Facebook).
  • Fluent in English and Cebuano (Bisaya), both written and spoken; proficiency in Filipino is an advantage.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to project sites and work effectively across cultures and departments.
  • Passion for storytelling with a deep commitment to humanitarian values.
