The post holder will undertake appropriate mental health assessment and clinical intervention for children and young people open to the CYJS in East Lancashire. The post holder will provide a range of appropriate, evidence based clinical interventions informed by assessed individual need. The post holder will provide support, advice and consultation to families/carers and other professionals within the East Team CYJS.This post holder will work alongside the ELCAS Operational Youth Justice Lead and the multi-disciplinary team.Please note access to private transport is essential for this role.Main duties of the jobUndertake assessments of problems and provide appropriate therapeutic interventions and advice to children and/or their families/carers.Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, in addition to working as a sole practitioner, contributing to assessment and treatment decisions.Ensure that clinical work is determined by best evidence-based practice and available guidelines, displays clear and logical structure in its implementation and is subject to reflection and evaluation.Deliver services within a hospital setting and community venues.Attend and contribute to organised clinical supervision forums with the aim of enhancing one’s own and others clinical practice.Liaise and work with other professionals involved with children and their families/carers s appropriate the needs of young people open in East Team CYJS. This will include agencies such as Health, Social Services, Education, Voluntary Services, Police etc.Work with other professionals within the CYJS East Team to promote awareness and understanding of children’s mental health needs in families and social settings.About usLancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area.   • RMN/CQSW/DipSW/BSc.OT or other relevant professional qualification.
  • Evidence of experience in Mental Health service provision.

KnowledgeEssential

  • High standards of accuracy. Evidence of working with childhood, emotional and psychological development. MDT working.
  • Basic IT skills essential.
  • Confident at dealing with people over the telephone and face to face.
  • Ability to understand, absorb and comply with detailed procedures

ExperienceEssential

  • Able to take on board new ideas, skills and knowledge
  • Able to manage conflicting priorities

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential
