Position SummaryAre you a compliance expert ready to lead privacy, access, and contract management across a dynamic university environment? Join us as our new Compliance and Contracts Advisor!Reporting to the Chief Governance Officer, the Compliance and Contracts Advisor collaborates with academic and administrative units to lead and assist with matters related to University compliance with particular federal, provincial and local laws and regulations, including privacy/access and anti-spam legislation. The Compliance and Contracts Advisor is also responsible for the oversight and management of various contracts related to the administrative affairs of the University including processes for contract review, contract inventory management, and monitoring.What You’ll Do:

  • Provide subject matter expertise to University leadership, faculty and staff on legislative compliance, including privacy/access and anti-spam legislation.
  • In collaboration with Information Services, conduct and/or assess privacy impact assessments (PIA) for the University.
  • In collaboration with Archives and Special Collections lead and provide training on records and information management for University records.
  • Respond to access to information requests, both informal and formal, and respond to reviews and/or reports from the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner. The Compliance and Contracts Advisor will also work with external legal counsel in preparation of affidavits, the record of documents, and written submissions as required.
  • Lead and manage privacy breach investigations, and develop, implement and monitor risk mitigation plans in response to recommendations arising from internal breach investigations and/or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner.
  • Identify gaps in privacy policies/processes and develop strategies for reinforcement and changes in accordance with legislative requirements and best practices. Coordinate the development and implementation of relevant compliance metrics.
  • Review current contractual agreements (excluding research, academic and certain other contracts), oversee their custody and secure control, and ensure processes are in place to monitor obligations, required renewals, or amendments.
  • Strengthen the University’s contract administration processes. This will include reviewing agreements, providing advice, and communicating with external organizations as required.
  • Develop and lead training and presentations related to privacy/access, compliance, and contracts, and develop tools and information for both internal and external stakeholders.

Position RequirementsWhat You’ll Bring to this Position:

  • Law degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in privacy, compliance, contract administration/management or a related discipline.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the Law Society of Saskatchewan
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:

  • Knowledge of privacy/access, CASL and other related legislation, regulations and compliance requirements as they apply to the post-secondary sector
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to work with confidential and sensitive information are imperative
  • Excellent negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage issues with tact and diplomacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills
  • The ability to effectively interact, communicate, influence, and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders including University senior leadership, and faculty and staff in all areas of the organization
  • Well-developed organizational skills and time management skills
  • Experience working with/in a University will be considered an asset
