The 2015 constitution of Nepal, envisages the devolution of policing in Nepal into 7 provincial Police Services and a Federal Police Organization (Nepal Police) in the federal sphere. How they combine to provide policing services in Nepal remains a work in progress. It will be highly complex in terms of changes in legislation, policy, administration, and organizational culture, even while standards of coordination and delivery must be maintained across the whole country. The changes will require new ways of working under SJP and create new needs to which UNOPS will seek maximum impact in its project period in at least three target provinces
Functional Responsibilities:
- Specifically, the incumbent Engineering technician-assistant will be responsible for the following technical tasks under the close supervision and guidance of the Associate Construction Management Engineer:
- Assist with the basic level of technical support in Construction sites.
- Assist in Monitoring and measuring the work progress through the Bill of Quantities (BoQ) as per the contract
- Provide data and information about project work to the Associate Construction Management Engineer
- Assist in the overall management of works implementation to ensure construction work is on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Provide regular support of the project work progress and quality for on-time delivery.
- Oversee dimensional control and site surveying works, and engineering control of the works.
- Assist with the technical supervision and support of construction works implementation.
- Assist in the preparation of site monitoring / daily/ weekly and monthly reports.
- Review the contractor’s Interim Payment Certificate (IPC).
- Maintain the record of the construction material on the construction site.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of progress and conditions on-site through daily site records prepared and submitted by the contractor to the supervisor.
Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education:
- Completion of Secondary education (Grade 10) is required.
- Completion of a Technical School Leaving Certificate (TSLC) in Civil Engineering as per the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTVT) or equivalent certification is desirable.
Certification:
- Auto CAD Certification will be an asset.
Experience:
- A minimum of four years of relevant working experience in support services in Engineering or Construction Management is required.
- Experience working in project teams and multi-project environments is desirable.
- Experience in Microsoft Office is required.
- Experience in the use of Google Suite applications is desirable.
Language:
- Fluency in writing, reading, and speaking Nepali and English is required.
- Knowledge of the local language in the field office is an asset.
