The Position:
The consultancy is located within the Inventory Control and Accounting team and is part of the Pillar 4 Support Services of the Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU).
The SCMU provides support, coordination and oversight to all SCM-related activities in support of UNFPA programmes. It enables UNFPA to undertake a coordinated approach in supply chain and logistics management interventions across all operations and provides the organisation with a holistic, demand-driven and resilient supply chain system across development and humanitarian settings.
The Inventory Control and Accounting Team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing the processes and controls required to ensure that inventory management activities operate effectively, in line with the requirements of the Policy and Procedures on Management of Programme Supplies and other related guidelines. This also includes inventory transactions are recorded and controls operate in compliance with the Policy and Procedures on Management of Programme Supplies.
The Inventory Control and Accounting Team provides technical guidance to field offices on downstream supply chain management-related requirements of the Policy and Procedures on Management of Programme Supplies and supports different initiatives to improve the effectiveness of inventory management at UNFPA, including implementation of the performance management reporting and the information and communications technology transformation project (ERP Quantum).

Job Purpose:
The purpose of this consultancy is to strengthen compliance with the Policy and Procedures on Management of Programme Supplies in the area of inventory accounting and control, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of UNFPA inventory records.
The consultant will report to Inventory Control and Accounting Team Lead, under the overall supervision of the pillar 4 Support Services. The consultancy can be carried out either from the duty station in Copenhagen, Denmark, or remotely.
