PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT:

The UNICEF Country Office Development and Support (CODAS) section within Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP) in Geneva, Switzerland, is seeking an Individual Giving Fundraising Specialist to carry out specific fundraising support to support emerging markets in the MENA, ESA, ECA and WCA regions.

This role will be critical for Country Offices (COs) and Clusters in terms of establishing an infrastructure for the growth of Individual Giving (IG) and helping offices deliver their 2025 Private Sector Plan (PSP) targets and testing plans. In addition, the incumbent will help develop high growth targets as part of future strategic plans.

The incumbent of this consultancy assignment will work directly with the Regional Offices (including the Procurement and Ops team), COs, Cluster PSFR teams, and CODAS, as well as with the relevant agencies. 

How can you make a difference? 

SCOPE OF WORK:

• Reporting to the PFP Market Development Manager of CODAS and working closely with the wider aforementioned teams, the consultant will:
• Coordinate the strategic planning, development, and implementation of IG fundraising activities, as needed, to maximize fundraising and revenue potential from Individual donors.
• Work closely with Regions and COs to ensure that framework for IG fundraising is established in emerging markets. This includes that appropriate fundraising suppliers with the optimal contractual agreements are in place for IG fundraising including systems. Lead on procurement processes in this respect.
• Work to ensure agency availability for services required for IG by developing Long Term Agreements (LTAs) with participating COs, Clusters, and Regions.
• Work closely with Regions and COs to coordinate testing plans, assessment, and the implementation of IG in new markets, as well as to evaluate and conclude results.
• Work closely with the COs and Regions to implement annual work plans and budgets for individual donors. Monitor and support the execution of fundraising strategies and work plans to achieve targets.
• Develop, implement, and manage IG donor reporting and analysis to strategically grow income.
• Maintain intelligence on the latest market developments, including successful techniques used within UNICEF to acquire customers/donors and maximize LTV, as well as the plans and activities of competitors.  Implement best-in-class learnings in COs.
• Coordinate the development of creative, generating, engaging, and inspiring fundraising materials for all channel within the IG remit, including Face-to-Face, Direct Response Television (DRTV), digital donor recruitment, donor retention, written and visual content, and telephone scripts.
• Work with the BI Specialist to optimize the Salesforce database and donor insights, directing donor communication strategies and plans.

• Support Implementation of Monthly Goals in line with Private Sector Plan (PSP) plans in ECA PSFR CO’s and Cluster in addition to test markets.

Deliverables 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10 by: end March 2025, end April 2025, end May 2025, end June 2025, end July 2025, end August 2025, end September 2025, end November 2025, and mid-December 2025

• Deliver 1 monthly report that include all Country Offices (COs), Cluster, and test markets, outlining Individuals KPI’s versus year-to-date targets.

Deliverable 8 by: end October 2025

• Deliver 1 monthly report that include all Country Offices (COs), Cluster, and test markets, outlining Individuals KPI’s versus year-to-date targets.
• Input into PSP planning and 2026 testing.

TRAVEL:

• There is a possibility of travel during the assignment on a per need basis and this will be covered separately by UNICEF and not included in the lump sum fee.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Education:

• An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or higher) in one of the following fields is required: Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, Management, or another relevant technical field.
• Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in combination with additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

• A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in the following fields: in Private Sector Fundraising, Management or another relevant technical field is required.
• Experience and understanding working in developing markets is required.
• Experience working across multiple markets is required.
• The ideal candidate is a highly experienced fundraiser with proven success of delivering multimillion dollar targets and multiple deliverables, of setting up a fundraising operation and infrastructure, building up and leading a large team to successful outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience in understanding and translating abstract ideas or concepts into actionable steps.
• Proven experience working in a multi-cultural environment and with cross-functional teams to deliver on common goals.
• A strong understanding of UNICEF systems, processes, and operations of UNICEF regional and country offices is an asset.
• Proven experience working in a multi-cultural environment and with cross-functional teams to deliver on common goals.

Language:

• Fluency in English is required.  Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.

Remarks:

Please indicate your all-inclusive (lump sum) fees in USD against the deliverables listed above, including all associated administrative and travel costs (if applicable), in the cover letter. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.  

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.  

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment.
