Duties and Responsibilities
UNEP is the voice for the environment within the United Nations system. UNEP acts as a catalyst, advocate, educator and facilitator to promote the wise use of the global environment and sustainable development. The Industry and Economy Division at UNEP plays a leading role in the Green Economy Initiative which aims to shift national economies on to a sustainable path, in which jobs and output growth are driven by increased investment in green sectors, and by a switch of consumers’ preferences towards environmentally friendly goods and services. Located within the Industry and Economy Division, the Resources and Markets Branch examines how economics, trade, and finance interact with the environment and contribute to sustainable development at the local, national, regional and global levels. The Resources and Markets Branch support countries through analytical studies in partnerships with UN agencies, intergovernmental institutions, governments, academic institutes, businesses and environmental groups to support the shift to an inclusive green economy and help deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Resources and Markets Branch in the Industry and Economy Division requires the services of a HR individual contractor to coordinate and manage several ongoing staff recruitment processes in order to ensure timely recruitments in the context of projects with funding limited to a certain period of time Specific tasks and responsibilities The duties and responsibilities will include: • Coordinate with the relevant Head of Unit and Initiatives, Fund Management Officer, and the Chief of Branch, in identifying upcoming vacancies; • Coordinate with the Fund Management Officer for funding for the upcoming vacancies; • Assists to prepares Documents with substantive input from the hiring manager for reclassifications and new job openings; • Assists to prepares comparative table of applicants to job openings for review by the hiring manager; • Assists hiring manager in preparing for the technical written test and coordinates communication with candidates; • Assists hiring manager in organizing competency-based interview and coordinates communication with the candidates; • Takes notes during the interview and coordinates finalization of interview report with hiring manager; • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications/special skills
HS Diploma The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced by two years for candidates who possess a first level University degree. A minimum of 3 years of experience in administrative services, human resources or related area is required. Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning Systems such as SAP or equivalent systems is required. Experience working with the United Nations, or a similar international organization is desirable. A minimum of One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable
Languages
Proven communication and writing skills in English.
