OBJECTIVES, METHODOLOGY, AND EXPECTED RESULTS
CARE Jordan will engage Women’s Leadership Committees (WLCs) and Community Committees (CCs) in a structured Social Analysis and Action (SAA) process to explore and challenge social norms and beliefs contributing to GBV. This process will involve dialogue and reflection sessions to enhance participants’ understanding of gender and power norms, leading to community-driven initiatives addressing these issues.
Training Provider Requirements
CARE Jordan seeks a training provider to deliver a comprehensive, technical training program for staff and partners focused on Social Analysis and Action (SAA). The training will equip participants with the skills to address Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and promote social cohesion within their communities.
Criteria Requirements:
- Proven Track Record: The applicant must have a demonstrated history of successfully delivering SAA programs in Arabic with CARE Organization. This includes extensive experience in facilitating SAA processes that challenge and re-envision inequitable gender norms.
- Expertise in SAA Methodology: The training provider should have the ability to integrate SAA methodologies that foster critical reflection and dialogue among participants. This involves guiding participants through the SAA process to explore and challenge the social norms, beliefs, and practices that shape their lives and health.
- Community Engagement: Experience in engaging with diverse community groups to foster unity and collaboration, addressing social divisions, and strengthening community bonds.
- Focus on Gender Equality: A strong commitment to advancing gender equality by partnering with communities to challenge and re-envision restrictive gender norms that limit women’s and girls’ potential.
- Capacity Building: Ability to build the capacity of CARE staff and partners, ensuring they are equipped to facilitate SAA processes and promote sustainable social change.
The training program will be designed to help participants surface and challenge restrictive norms, act together to create more equitable ones, and build support for sexual, reproductive, and maternal health and rights. The process will begin with CARE staff, encouraging them to reflect on their own biases and beliefs and how these affect their work, making them more comfortable discussing sensitive issues with others.
Key Training Topics
The training will cover the following topics, integrating them with community protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) themes:
- Social Cohesion: Promoting unity and collaboration across diverse community groups to foster resilience, support, and collective action. This includes addressing social divisions and strengthening community bonds.
- Climate Change: Understanding the impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations and empowering communities to take collective action in mitigating its effects, especially for women and marginalized groups.
- Energy Conservation: Highlighting the critical importance of energy-saving practices that reduce environmental impact while improving community well-being, with a particular emphasis on women’s roles in these efforts.
- Water Harvesting: Equipping communities with the knowledge and tools to harvest and conserve water, addressing both environmental and gender-specific challenges related to water scarcity.
- Role of Women in the Socio-Economic Market: Recognizing and promoting the constructive contributions of women in the socio-economic landscape. This includes enhancing their participation in markets and decision-making processes and advocating for gender-equitable economic opportunities.
- Importance of Education: Emphasizing education as a key lever for change, particularly in addressing child labor, school dropouts, and early marriage. Education serves as a foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty and promoting gender equality.
- Women’s Socio-Economic Empowerment: Empowering women economically through skills development, access to resources, and leadership opportunities. This aims to enhance their role in the economic development of their communities and ensure they have a voice in shaping their future.
