Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) is looking for 2 enthusiastic colleagues to join the department of General Paediatrics. We are offering 2 x 10 PA substantive posts. These roles will support the delivery of both inpatient and outpatient general paediatrics. Applicants should have a CCT or equivalent in General Paediatrics or be within six months of achieving this at the date of interview or be listed on the GMC’s specialist register. A strong interest in Paediatric Epilepsy is essential, and previous experience of working with young people with epilepsy is required.The BRHC is the paediatric major trauma centre for the South West region and is the only dedicated hospital for children in the South West of England. Bristol was voted best place to live in the UK in 2017 by the Sunday Times. It is a vibrant city with easy access to the countryside and coast of the Southwest of England and South Wales.Main duties of the jobThe postholders will be an integral part of the general paediatric service delivering weeks as the named service consultant as well as contributing to the second on call rota year round. The model of care will be that during 6 months of the year, there are 2 consultant paediatricians providing 7 day a week service from 0830-1730 and in the other 6 months there will be the service consultant plus a second consultant from 0830-1300.General paediatrics provide rapid access clinics and routine general paediatric clinics and the postholders will be expected to deliver these. There will also be dedicated rapid access clinics for assessment of children presenting with fits, faints and funny turns, and secondary care epilepsy clinics.An exciting new development with BrisDoc is the provision of same day telephone advice to primary care in order to avoid admission and to ensure the right care in the right place at the right time and the postholders will be expected to contribute to this new service.About usUniversity Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, bringing together a combined workforce of over 13,000 staff and over 100 different clinical services across 10 different sites, serving a core population of more than 500,000 people across South West England.   • Eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview
  • RCPCH SPIN module in epilepsy or equivalent experience
