Purpose of Activity/Assignment:
The private sector is indispensable to maximizing progress for children and achieving the SDGs. By maximizing the power and reach of the private sector both globally and locally, the private sector can be an instrumental partner in delivering effective results.
Work with the private sector must be grounded in high-quality analysis of its impacts and of the opportunities present in the context of programme outcomes for children. This means that private sector engagement is not an intervention; it is a strategy that is integrated into programming efforts – when relevant. The benefits for business and their potential interest in working programmatically with UNICEF will ultimately depend on the value shared, the engagement modality, goals to be achieved, business capacity and interest in embracing and/or influencing change for children.
In the context of Guinea rapid economic growth and the recent shifts from traditional bilateral donors, UNICEF Guinea sees an opportunity to develop strategic partnerships with the private sector (mining and extractives, financial services, logistics, telecommunications and digital services etc) and its different stakeholders to leverage opportunities for child rights in Guinea.
The engagement will take different forms ranging from mobilizing resources, promoting positive changes in business practices through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), supporting programmes for children and encouraging innovations.
The objective is to support UNICEF Guineas efforts in leveraging opportunities from the private sector and influence private sectors business practices. This will be done by scanning the environment to have a data base of private sectors to engage with, developing and implementing a private sector strategy and action plan 2026-2028 to support the country office to mobilize resources from the private sector and develop briefs and business cases for top 15 private sector to engage with as well support the country office to organize engagement with the private sector. The purpose is to deepen organization collaboration with key private sector stakeholders and provide an interface for environmental scanning, knowledge exchange, resource mobilization, and policy influence. The key result is to ensure that UNICEF Guinea leverage opportunities for children from the private sector and influence private sectors practices and policies to respect and sustain child rights.
How can you make a difference?
The Summary of key functions/accountabilities and key deliverables of the assignment during the period includes:
- Update database of key companies and contacts from the private sector for engagements and resource mobilization, including analysis of the Corporate social responsibility that have established (or not). Develop company profile for the private sectors, including what policies it has in place, in support of understanding its impact and relevance in delivering results for children, and briefing notes for private sector engagements by the senior management.
- Provide an analysis of engagement opportunities for UNICEF, identify key entry points for engagement with the main private sector and with influencers of the private sector (government, investors, brands, multi-stakeholder platforms).
- Develops and implements private sector partnership engagement and resource mobilization plans for 2026-2028 for resource mobilization and influencing the private sector, promoting positive changes in business practices through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), supporting programmes for children and encouraging innovations.
- Develop communications products/ business cases/briefs for the private sector to enhance UNICEF’s visibility and influence with existing and prospective private partners. Identify champions/leaders for UNICEF related areas in the private sector.
- Organize a private sector roundtable or one on one engagement or thematic engagements with the private sector for influencing and resource mobilization.
- Develop Terms of reference for Chief Executive Officer council and support the country office in putting in place the CEO council a platform that can be used for advocacy, influencing and resource mobilization

Description of the assignment:
Period of the consultancy: 5 months from 1st February to 30 July 2026
Modality of work: The consultant will be based in Conakry Guinea during the consultancy assignment
Supervision: The consultant will work with the Representative and in close collaboration with the Partnership Specialist unit and programme sections.

Evaluation Criteria
Desk review evaluating specific professional experience. The technical offer will be graded on a scale of 75 with a pass mark of 50.
The lowest financial offer obtains the maximum financial rating. Other bids that have passed the required technical threshold will receive scores inversely proportional to the lowest bid.

- The consultants indicate all-inclusive (lump sum) fees (in Guinean Franc -GNF) including all associated administrative (visa, health insurance, daily subsistence allowance and travel costs).
- Costs indicated are estimated. Final rate shall follow the “best value for money” principle, i.e., achieving the desired outcome at the lowest possible fee. Consultants will be asked to stipulate all-inclusive fees, including lump sum travel and subsistence costs, as applicable.
- Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant
Noted that :
Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

Minimum requirements:
Education:
An Advanced university degree (Master) in international development, public affairs, international relations, political science in communication, Social Sciences, development studies or another related field.
Work Experience:
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in Corporate Social Responsibility strategies, particularly with mining companies, private sector partnership and engagement, institutional fundraising and content marketing for social organizations, liaison and/or any resource-mobilization related activities, preferably in an international organization, is required.
- Experience in private sector resource mobilization and business for results skills
- Capacity to work under pressure and deliver quality inputs to meet deadlines.
- Strong private sector engagement skills and writing skills
Language Requirements: Fluency in French and English is required with knowledge of another UN language considered as an asset
Desirables:
- Knowledge of another UN language considered as an asset
- Demonstrated experience in working with UNICEF would be an asset.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
