Consultancy Background

ICMP seeks to engage a health and safety consultant to work collaboratively with the Director of Science and Technology to conduct a health and safety risk assessment to identify potential hazards in the workplace and determine the most serious or significant risks across ICMP’s activities in various countries. The consultant will analyze the measures taken by ICMP to prevent harm to the health of its staff and advise on measures to minimize these risks.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct a professional risk assessment of potential health and safety risks across ICMP activities in various programs by providing tools and knowledge.
  • Identify risks and issues of higher priority by giving guidance on the next steps, potentially including exemplar processes and documents.
  • Provide a recommended course of action to how future phases may be sequenced including reporting of hazards, near misses and incidents.
  • Advise ICMP to identify trends to provide appropriate recommendations that support future improvements and enhancements to ICMP Health, Safety, and Well-being system.

Requirements

  • University degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant health and safety work experience in an international organization with activities implemented globally.
  • Certification(s) in Occupational Safety and/or Industrial Hygienist are considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Preference for applicants who have a strong background in project management, learning, change management, and development programs to address occupational health, safety and wellness.
  • Demonstrated competencies in strategic thinking, collaboration, data analysis, communications, and influence.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.

Expected start date: As soon as possible. 

Vacancy close date: 13 November 2024

The duration of this consultancy will be four weeks from November to December 2024. The total amount for the consultancy is $5,000 USD. Payment will be made upon the acceptance of the risk assessment report and within thirty (30) days or earlier of ICMP approving the invoice for payment by bank transfer.
