Key Responsibilities
As Controller, you’ll manage financial operations and deliver actionable insights to support growth:
Financial Leadership
- Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, with a focus on POC accounting for construction contracts.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and TxDOT-related bonding requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
Strategic Collaboration
- Work closely with the CEO, CFO, and COO to boost profitability and operational efficiency.
- Provide financial insights to guide decision-making across departments.
- Develop scalable systems and controls to support business growth.
Technical Expertise
- Utilize Viewpoint Vista ERP for seamless project-based financial management.
- Apply advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros) to create dynamic financial models.
- Build KPIs, dashboards, and data visualizations to communicate performance clearly.
Compliance & Audits
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal/state/local taxes, and TxDOT requirements.
- Coordinate external audits and manage bonding/insurance processes.
Team Leadership
- Mentor and develop a high-performing finance team, including onshore and offshore staff.
- Streamline AP, AR, and job costing processes through automation and efficiency.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- experience: 10–15 years in accounting/finance, with 5+ years in a Controller role.
- Expertise: Deep knowledge of POC accounting, TxDOT projects, and bonding requirements.
- Skills: Hands-on experience with Viewpoint Vista ERP and advanced Excel proficiency.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead diverse teams and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Mindset: Proactive, hands-on approach suited for a fast-paced, growing business.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Professional office setting with standard equipment (computers, phones, printers).
- Prolonged desk work, occasional lifting of office supplies (up to 15 lbs).
- May require extended hours during month-end, year-end, audits, or special projects.
