Position description

The Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking candidates for the position of Direct Marketing Coordinator to support the Marketing Team in the Development and Outreach Department. The Marketing team is responsible for the organization’s direct response fundraising initiatives in the United States. This position is preferably based in New York, NY or Washington DC and reports to the Associate Director of Marketing based in New York. This position is fully remote and will have the option to work as desired from an HRW office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the Associate Director with strategy and implementation of all offline marketing initiatives including the Direct Mail program, the Face-to-Face Canvassing Program, and Telemarketing program;
  2. Liaise with Agency Partners; Create and help manage the development and publishing of timelines for all offline marketing campaigns; Coordinate workflow platforms and address changes in schedule and manage remediation actions for adjusted timelines;
  3. Steward offline marketing content through the internal review process with the central Program Office, Legal Office, and other regional and thematic program divisions; Assist with stewarding review process for digital marketing initiatives as-needed;
  4. Coordinate image selection and review process for offline marketing channels; liaise with photo agencies, Creative team, and Multimedia team to secure and approve photos for direct mail and digital marketing assets as needed;
  5. Coordinate the data selects process for direct mail campaigns; query and export constituent data and liaise with agency partners and Fundraising Systems and Data Analytics (FSDA) team on data QC process, direct mail setup and laser review, and constituent data imports into the CRM; coordinate ongoing reporting for offline marketing initiatives to internal and external partners.
  6. Liaise with the Creative team; Coordinate Marketing initiatives with Creative on HRW merchandise and premium collateral, coordinate Marketing’s donor listing in the annual report;
  7. Manage friendly-URL (FURL) page creation and tracking in the e-CRM for monthly direct mail campaigns;
  8. Coordinate the direct mail section of integrated Marketing calendars, FURL spreadsheet for all source coding, date tracking, and record keeping; organize and track Direct Marketing’s offline testing initiatives;
  9. Coordinate activities of the caging company as it relates to direct marketing, including but not limited to: acknowledgement procedures, postage account replenishment, inventory fulfillment, data capture, and implementation of new marketing initiatives and collateral;
  10. Support the Associate Director in liaising with Program, Communications, Public Engagement, Web Team, and other Development teams for Marketing integration and campaign planning; Help strategize, design, and implement cultivation initiatives for current, lapsed, and prospective donors;
  11. Support Associate Director in liaising with the CRM Team and FSDA (Fundraising Systems and Data Analytics) team on all technical aspects of the Marketing Program: manage implementation of acknowledgement program including updating language for direct mail letters and other data needs as required; coordinate Marketing – FSDA meetings;
  12. Process expenses and consultant invoices; track team expenses, and assist with quarterly budget auditing processes and annual expense projections;
  13. Track and prepare direct marketing campaign collateral for archives;
  14. Provide administrative support to the team; and
  15. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education: A bachelor’s degree is required.

Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.

Related Skills and Knowledge:

  1. Prior office/administration experience and strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail are required.
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences are required.
  4. Ability to work well under pressure while juggling multiple tasks simultaneously is required.
  5. Ability to make sound decisions consistent with functions is required.
  6. Self-motivation and the ability to prioritize with minimal supervision and work independently as well as function as a member of a team with staff in multiple locations globally are required.
  7. Proficiency in computer packages including MS Office applications is required. Prior experience with e-CRM and / or databases a plus.
  8. Strong interest in human rights, international issues, and/or marketing, is a plus.

Salary and Benefits: HRW seeks exceptional applicants and offers competitive compensation and employer-paid benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance. The salary range for this position if based in the US is USD 64,201 – 68,528 plus benefits. Salary ranges outside of the US vary based on location, and you will receive specific salary ranges based on your location early during the recruitment process.
