Job Description

Campus Ministry invites all in the Notre Dame community into lives joyfully rooted in Jesus and the mission of the Congregation of Holy Cross. The Coordinator of Multicultural Outreach (CMO) embodies this mission by building relationships with students and key partners, and supporting student leaders in creating opportunities that deepen the faith lives of students from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, focusing on Latino, Black, and Asian student needs. In particular, the CMO must know how to engage Latino, Black, and Asian young adults, supporting and encouraging them to become active participants and leaders in the Catholic Church or in their respective faith communities.

The ideal candidate will empower student leaders to build relationships, grow community at the intersection of faith and culture, and run essential programs to meet specific needs. Along with their programming responsibilities, to succeed the CMO must have well-developed skills in one-on-one mentoring, be available for planned and unplanned conversations, and serve as a trusted partner with other University units and student organizations. Finally, this candidate must be capable of forming and guiding part-time staff and student interns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Programming: Design, implement, and evaluate opportunities for Latino, Black, and Asian students to thrive spiritually and build community. Primary programming responsibilities include engaging in one-on-one mentoring, forming student leaders, coordinating liturgical experiences of prayer and worship with key partners, connecting students to various ministry opportunities and events, like small groups, pilgrimages and immersions, retreats, etc.
  2. Asian student ministry: Build relationships with students in the Asian community on campus, and support student leaders and interns in developing opportunities for Asian students to thrive spiritually and build community.
  3. Black student ministry: Build relationships with students in the Black community on campus, and support student leaders and interns in developing opportunities for Black students to thrive spiritually and build community.
  4. Latino student ministry: Build relationships with students in the Latino community on campus, and support student leaders and interns in developing opportunities for Latino students to thrive spiritually and build community, including weekly Sunday Spanish Masses.
  5. Participates as an integral member of a large, multifaceted Campus Ministry team interacting daily with colleagues in Student Ministry, Pastoral Care, and Liturgy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1 to 2 years experience
  • Understanding of young adult spirituality and faith formation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong networks aimed at student flourishing.
  • Eagerness to encounter and learn from diverse cultures and understand different faith traditions.
  • Strong pastoral, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Google Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Theology or related field.
  • 2 or more years experience.
