The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Course Operations Manager coordinates and facilitates the successful delivery of online programs and learning experiences at Columbia Video Network (CVN), the online department at the School of Engineering and Applied Science, Columbia University. The incumbent manages day-to-day operations related to student and faculty support. The incumbent oversees seamless online course delivery, various technologies, platforms, and applications related to online teaching and learning. The incumbent develops, analyzes, and maintains data-driven processes and reports for course and program success. Reporting to the Executive Director, the incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing detailed student support plans and documentation that enhance learning experiences in various learning modalities. Tracks and reports progress for assigned projects.

Responsibilities

Online Course Development, Management & Administration (40%)

• Manage and administer various student and faculty-facing systems, including a learning management system (Canvas LMS) and online tools and platforms related to the delivery of online programs.
• Evaluate, test, and implement technology and resources to support program delivery.
• Support the design and development of courses and programs in collaboration with team members, faculty, and stakeholders.
• Work with faculty and team members to collaboratively identify and articulate innovative digital project ideas and suggest creative applications of digital, online, and multimedia resources to enhance teaching and learning.
• Partner with stakeholders (instructional designers, media producers, and subject matter experts) to create interactive and technology-enhanced course materials and resources.
• Support the development and update of courses or course modules, including consulting with faculty on course development, identifying opportunities for modularity and improvements in course design, and collaborating on the development of new course materials and resources.
• Research current and emerging technologies for enhancing courses and teaching materials to serve learning objectives.

Student and Faculty Support & Engagement (40%)

• Provide technical and administrative support and services needed for student engagement and success in various course modalities.
• Address student and faculty inquiries in a timely manner by working collaboratively with stakeholders across departments.
• Escalate urgent issues to the management team.
• Cultivate relationships and engagement with students, faculty, and administration across the School and the University.

Data Management & Reporting (10%)

• Perform data analysis, track, and report on data related to program metrics.
• Conduct regular evaluations to identify areas for improvement in program and course offerings.
• Work with stakeholders to maintain and update the curriculum and content.
• Compile and analyze program and course reports for reporting online program information to various stakeholders.
• Track and report progress for assigned projects.

Other (10%)

• Other duties and special projects, as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferred in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 2 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of instructional technology tools is required.
• Experience working with stakeholders to deliver online teaching and learning modules is
• required.
• Knowledge of a programming language is required (i.e., Python, C++, R).
• Experience using Mac and Windows computers.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations on
• related topics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of web content creation tools, including web authoring platforms and HTML.
• Knowledge of project management essentials and project management tracking
• software (i.e., Asana)
