Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the internship position encompass all aspects of the Directorates work. These responsibilities may include but are not limited to: • Assist in analysing and interpreting counter-terrorism instruments and laws from a gender perspective. • Research and collect information pertaining to gender and counter-terrorism matters. • Assist in the preparation of analytical gender background and briefing papers. • Assist in drafting reports, summary notes and correspondence relating to gender and counter-terrorism. • Maintain awareness of relevant gender and WPS issues, including at country level. • Assist in preparing documents needed for the organization of workshops, seminars and briefings. • Liaise with external partners, as appropriate. • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must, at the time of their submission, be enrolled in a graduate school programme (i.e. Master’s degree or equivalent degree, or higher), preferably in the area of law, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field, OR have graduated with a university degree as defined above AND, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period from the date of graduation.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English (written and oral) is required.
