North Tyneside Council are recruiting an Infant Feeding Public Health Assistant to work within the Childrens Public Health Service (CPHS).Would you like to be part of an innovative skill mix team of health visitors, school nurses, public health staff nurses and child development practitioners?This is your chance to work with an outstanding group of safeguarding and health professionals. The service has close working relationships with the early help service, multiagency safeguarding hub (MASH), education, housing, primary care, midwifery services and sport and leisure, which ensures good outcomes for families and provides positive working relationships for colleagues.The Signs of Safety model is embedded throughout the service and robust safeguarding supervision is provided to colleagues by Safeguarding Nurse Advisors. North Tyneside Childrens Social Care has been graded Outstanding by Ofsted in 2024.Colleagues are provided with support and supervision from the Infant Feeding Specialist and Nurse Manager throughout their probationary period and beyond and have access to an identified mentor.Main duties of the jobAre you a motivated and enthusiastic individual with knowledge of basic feeding practices, current issues relating to public health priorities and have experience working with children and families?CQC inspection in 2022 rated the service as Good with Outstanding Leadership stating ‘All those responsible for delivering care were committed to working collaboratively as a team to benefit children, young people and their families. They supported each other to provide good care and communicated effectively with other agencies.The service was reaccredited in March 2025 with the UNICEF Baby Friendly Gold Award.The post holder will support the Infant Feeding Specialist (IFS) and the wider team in delivering a range of services to improve health outcomes for children and families by supporting, inspiring, and encouraging families to achieve their feeding goals. They will support and promote breastfeeding across the Borough, working in line with service policy and UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative standards.The essential requirements of the post are: GCSE Maths and English or equivalent, and the ability to meet the travel requirements of the post.About usThe CPHS provides an atmosphere of continuous professional development.
