Organization Mission

Through its unique coordination, operational and normative mandate, UNMAS works across the humanitarian-development-peace nexus, seeking to mitigate the immediate risk posed by explosive ordnance to civilians, humanitarian and development actors is mitigated. Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) contributes to the peace processes, strengthening national capacity and addressing the root causes of conflict in Colombia.

Strategic Outcome 1: The Mine Action sector is coordinated, prioritized, principled, and delivers effective responses to humanitarian and peacebuilding needs.

Strategic Outcome 2: Affected communities, local authorities, and humanitarian actors are better prepared to prevent and respond to explosive threats through strengthened coordination, inclusive risk education, and victims” assistance.

Strategic Outcome 3: Humanitarian Mine Action is an enabler for peacebuilding in Colombia.

Context

The layout and design of this publication will enable UNMAS Colombia to continue contributing to and disseminating relevant knowledge to the humanitarian community, the mine action sector, and the national government, while fulfilling its mandate to engage with stakeholders and donors.

Key Responsibilities

UNMAS Colombia is looking for a creative and committed volunteer to support the design and layout of a high-visibility publication — featuring maps and infographics — that will deliver compelling visuals on the growing threat of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)/drones adapted to carry and release explosive devices. This is a unique opportunity to contribute your skills to a mission with real humanitarian impact.

Required Skills and Experience

Proven knowledge of graphic design and layout.

Preferably with experience in designing and formatting research or analytical publications.

Proficiency in design software, particularly the Adobe package (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).

Working knowledge of English or Spanish.

A portfolio or links to previous design contributions/publications is highly valued.

Experience contributing to publications with humanitarian or advocacy-related content will be considered a strong asset.
