Job description
As the Design Development Manager, you will be able to lead the design development for multiple projects and manage the projects from inception to completion of the construction documents. Projects consist of high-rise residential across the GTA.
- Coordinate design development work across various consultant disciplines
- Lead the design coordination meetings, recording and following-up on the actions of the consultants
- Work closely with the construction and estimating team to make recommendations for corrective action, providing input on Value Engineering opportunities for senior management consideration
- Work closely with the Development team to drive alignment on project assumptions throughout early stages of projects
- Work with construction and estimating team to generate design deliverable milestones and tender sequence for consultants to meet the project schedule
- Review the drawings and specifications. Make sure there is consistency between architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, interior design, shoring and site servicing drawings.
- Assist with the liaison, coordination and deliverables with municipalities and authorities having jurisdiction to attain the appropriate permits
- Assisting in the Request for Proposal (RFP) preparation for selection of consultants
- Review and analyze consultants’ proposals, making recommendation for award; ensure accuracy of information within proposal documents
- Provide monthly design reports as required
- Work closely with consultants to establish an accurate Building Information Modeling (BIM) model and mitigate errors prior to tender

- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering.
- A minimum of 7 years as an Architect or Design Development Manager within the residential high-rise industry, ideally within a design consultancy firm.
- Experience overseeing development of building documentation in modeling/drafting software (Revit, ACC)
- Familiarity with local municipal building processes and procedures, with a strong understanding of Ontario Building Code requirements preferred.
- Ability to check work of all consultants for accuracy and completeness
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Ability to plan and organize with good attention to detail
