Local 543JOB CODE:543592POSITION STATUS: Regular Full-Time# OF POSITIONS: 1GRADE/CLASS: 0.14RATE OF PAY: $32.53 – $38.23 per hourSHIFT WORK REQ’D: NoDUTIES:Reporting to the Supervisor, Research & Policy, the Development Services Research & Data Analyst is responsible for the design, collection, analysis and reporting of statistics within Development Services. The incumbent will support Development Services initiatives by providing and interpreting relative research into best practices, and the development of metrics to track and report on development services data, including the assessment of progress on local and upper level of government targets and programs. This position will work with staff in Development Services and across the Corporation, with community partners, and relevant stakeholders. The Research & Data Analyst position will be required to produce information in a timely manner, in a service aera that is often requested to deliver data and analysis on a short basis. The Development Services Research & Data Analyst will be responsible for conducting original research, interpretation of legislation, and must be able to explain and summarize complex research, data issues, and terminology. The incumbent will provide evidence informed decision making support for the development services area. They will be responsible for the collection of data, both qualitative and quantitative from various resources and will conduct funding and program evaluation research. This position will be responsible for creating, analyzing, and reporting on a variety of performance metrics and accurately interpreting and synthesizing pertinent data in user friendly formats. The Development Services Research & Data Analyst will be responsible for monitoring any available sources of data to identify emerging trends and bring forward recommendations for best practices. The incumbent will write reports and prepare other written communications. They will assist with the development and disseminations of information using a variety of communication and marketing methods. The incumbent will also be required to prepare and deliver presentations to a wide range of stakeholders, including the public, internal staff and senior administration, as well as elected officials and upper levels of government. They will also participate in working groups as required which support and align with Development Services initiatives. The incumbent will also perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporate Health & Safety Program and any other duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a 4-year Post Secondary Education in Social Science, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of three (3) years experience where primary duties include research, data collection, and analysis.
• Must have experience in a computerized and customer service office environment utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite of Products, i.e. Word and Excel.
• Must possess excellent analytical, communication, report writing, organizing and research analysis skills.
• Must be detail oriented, proficient in drafting statistics and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Must have good customer service skills and excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of the City’s regulatory by-laws would be considered an asset.
• Must be self-motivated and a team player.
• Must have good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Must be capable of working with minimum supervision.
• Given that this job is a new position, a Physical Demands analysis will be completed with the incumbent after approximately six (6) months of occupying the position.
