DevOps IaC Engineer

Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a DevOps IaC Engineer.

Program Overview: USSTRATCOM is a Combatant Command responsible for strategic deterrence, nuclear operations, and enterprise IT services essential to national security. It oversees Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (JEMSO), Global Strike, and Missile Threat Assessments, working closely with other Combatant Commands, Services, and defense agencies. Apogee will provide 24/7 IT services and network support for NIPRNet, SIPRNet, JWICS, and SAP/SAR environments.

This is a full-time position located at Offutt AFB, NE.

Infrastructure Engineering & Automation:
Design, build, and maintain cloud and on-premises infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools. Engineer and deploy the Rogue Blue SWF infrastructure layer (servers, network devices, storage, VMware) across multiple classification levels. Build and maintain converged and hyper-converged infrastructure, including storage, networking, and virtualization systems.
• Provisioning & Deployment:
  Enable rapid provisioning and deployment of standardized operating environments (e.g., virtual servers, network appliances) using automation.
• CI/CD & DevOps:
  Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate builds, testing, and deployments. Apply advanced DevOps practices and IT architecture knowledge to ensure scalable, reliable systems.
• Containerization & Orchestration:
  Manage containerized applications with Docker and orchestrate them at scale using Kubernetes.
• Monitoring, Incident Response & Support:
  Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure reliability. Act as first responder for production incidents. Provide technical support for development programs while mentoring junior personnel.
• System Security & Compliance:
  Implement and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation in coordination with security teams.
• Architecture & Requirements Analysis:
  Evaluate infrastructure designs and recommend standardization. Translate operational needs into detailed system and software requirements. Determine and document the feasibility of new capabilities and requirements.
• Integration & Tooling:
  Provide expertise in integrating advanced tools, technologies, and COTS products into existing systems and processes.
• Collaboration & Leadership:
  Partner with design and development teams and their leadership to optimize Application architecture for performance and scalability. Monitor team progress and productivity using metrics.

Minimum experience:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: Must possess TS w/SCI Eligibility at hire; at time of application a minimum of a TS required.
Certifications: Security+ and willingness to obtain ITIL v4 within 6 months of onboarding
education: High School Diploma
Years of Experience: 8 years experience (3-5 minimum if possessing a Bachelor’s degree) in software development, systems engineering, devops or other relevant technical field to include:

• Knowledge of modern IT architecture and development operations (DevOps) processes, including object-oriented development/tools
• Translation of operational requirements into detailed software/system requirements
• Integration of COTS products into software/system architectures

Additional Experience: Hands on experience with 3 of the 5 areas below:

1. Kubernetes & Docker
2. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
3. Cloud Platforms: Expertise in AWS or Azure
4. CI/CD Tools: Keywords like Jenkins, or GitLab CI
5. Scripting/Programming: Proficiency in Python or Bash for automation tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree

Certificaitons: Sec+ and ITIL v4
Years of Experience: 5 years in software development, systems engineering, devops or other relevant technical field

Additional Experience:

Experience with NC3 Planning and Analysis systems
