Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Meetings Support Section, Meetings and Publishing Division, Department for General Assembly and Conference Management, New York. Under the general supervision of the Director, Meetings and Publishing Division, the Programme Management Officer will report to the Chief of Section.

Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Programme Management Officer, Administration will be responsible for the following duties:

• Manage the implementation of the Digitization Project contributing to the preservation of UN official documents through digitization in the six official languages, taking responsibility for overall progress and use of resources and initiating corrective action where necessary.
• Ensure that the Project Team (approximately 6 staff) is staffed and resourced (including software, consultants and vendors) to process scanned documents in a timely and efficient manner.
• Coordinate with the Dag Hammarskjöld Library on workflow, and prioritization of documents.
• Maintain production and quality control standards and procedures in consultation with other stakeholders.
• Prepare periodic reports on project statistics and data.
• Recruit, guide, train and supervise staff assigned to the Project.
• Prepare all project-related documents, including project initiation documents, status reports, risk and issue logs, roadmaps, budget estimates and other documents.
• Perform other duties as required.

Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, communications, information systems, social science or a related field. A first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience in training and development may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, supervision, or related experience is required. Experience in managing projects and teams related to document preservation in the United Nations or another large international organization is required. Experience with PRINCE2 or similar project management methodology is required.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required.
