Job description
The Digital Marketing Specialist plays a key role in our customer acquisition and retention efforts. The role combines a primary focus on digital advertising with a secondary focus on, email, and tools to improve on-site metrics. The successful candidate understands digital advertising strategy and tactics, knows how to evaluate advertising performance, and is an excellent communicator, internally and externally with our agencies.This is a remote position with the opportunity to work in-office in Burnaby or Calgary; may be asked to attend team meetings in-office occasionally.Spud is a Western Canadian online grocery delivery business comprised of a passionate team who believe that food touches every aspect of our lives, so we are advocates for sustainable farming practices, sourcing locally, treating animals humanely, and reducing food waste. We also operate our retail markets Be Fresh, Organic Acres, and Blush Lane.Duties & Responsibilities:Email:
- Produce, measure, and optimize email marketing across Spud’s eCommerce and Retail brands.
- Set up email journeys and automated emails to target various segments of Spud customers to increase purchase frequency and increase average order size.
- Optimize email marketing efforts for revenue, growth, and customer experience, while having a strong regard for brand.
Digital:
- Improve performance of key marketing channels including Paid Social, SEM, email marketing, and Display.
- Analyze digital advertising platform performance, create reports for senior management, and use insights to challenge external agency partners to deliver their best work and drive the brand and business
- Formulate digital advertising strategies and tactics to brief and guide agency partners on direction and reaching targets.
- Launch and manage digital ad campaigns and ads for non-agency campaigns.
- Keep up with industry trends, explore new platforms, tactics and strategies.
- Track ad spend and ensure correct utilization of budgets.
- Work closely with ad agencies, internal teams like design and social, and occasionally vendors.
- Create design requests for ads or marketing campaigns.
- Work with on-site and off-site media and tools to improve metrics related to our customer acquisition and retention efforts.
- Monitor the latest trends with the goal of improving campaign performance and provide recommendations on technologies to test.
- Develop enhanced reporting, analyze results, and create action plans.
- Manage promotion code creation, tracking, and troubleshooting.
- Additional duties as required.
- Minimum 2 years of direct experience with Google Ads and Facebook Ads at an agency OR 3 years in-house.
- Must be an excellent communicator.
- Strong understanding of performance marketing metrics (CPC, CPM, CPA/CAC, ROAS, CTR, LTV) and how they impact the business and each marketing channel.
- Strong experience with Excel, including formulas for data analysis and ad management.
- Strong experience with Google Analytics.
- Experience with Mailchimp, Klaviyo, or other CRM
- Experience with Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads, Pinterest Ads, and other social media ads Ecommerce experience preferred.
