DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Achieve established performance targets by actively engaging multiple

disciples/departments/staff; appropriately manage people,

relationships/processes to maximize results as well as engage internal and

external stakeholders. Promotes collaboration, teamwork, and champions service excellence.

Develop strategies for long-range planning addressing changes in reimbursement and environment in collaboration with internal and external organizations.

Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with medical staff, hospital directors, and peers to support the mission, vision, and values; work with clinical faculty to ensure timely record completion, and high-quality clinical documentation, streamline documentation processes, and ensure patient access to their medical record.

Interview, select, train, counsel, and evaluate all staff; monitor trends to

ensure sufficient staff to provide appropriate levels of service to

patients/organization; ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and

rules/regulations (organizational, State, and Federal).

Prepare annual budget and monitor revenue/expenditures during the year; achieve departmental and organizational goals within budget; ensure optimal outcomes for the department; develop and monitor workload standards/staff productivity; ensure that all departmental certifications, licensure, and accreditations are maintained continually.

Review and analyze patient records, forms, and record requests to ensure

completeness and internal accuracy/consistency to meet the department and regulatory standards as well as customer expectations.; institute procedures for the statistical surveys/reports on various reporting requests/requirements, such as reportable diseases, preparing necessary documentation and reports.

Track and identify trends including record completion; coding compliance, and documentation accuracy report findings/trends to the Patient Health Information Committee, and develop/generate specific reports. Oversees collection, analysis, and reporting of financial/operational data related to patient records for use in quality and performance improvement; develops corrective action related to findings.

May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in health information management or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired.

Five (5) years of supervisory experience in the medical record field.

Registered Health Information Administrator by the American Health Information Management Association.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring

department.
