About The Role

Our Global Insurance Services team is looking for CPAs with 5+ years of public accounting and/or forensic and litigation consulting experience within the insurance sector. As a Director, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day efforts that bring value to our insurance clients with projects ranging from litigation consulting to forensic accounting and beyond.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and perform day-to-day activities of projects including interaction with client personnel, other team members, and professionals from other firms involved in the engagement.
  • Oversee staff to perform written analyses, presentations, quantitative exhibits, and other reports for third parties, as necessary, on the project scope and/or results of activities.
  • Develop scope for and perform technical accounting and financial analysis and document complex investigative issues.
  • Develop work plans to execute analyses to assess complex questions of fact, lead teams in preparing reports and schedules summarizing findings that will be delivered to clients and other parties.
  • Perform technical, industry, and company research utilizing online tools and publicly available information.
  • Interact confidently and professionally with FTI and client personnel throughout various engagements.
  • Apply accounting, financial and analytical skills to various client situations and practice disciplines, such as detailed reviews of financial statements and underlying accounting records and the application of U.S. GAAP.
  • Organize information to facilitate effective data access and analysis.
  • Maintain detailed working paper records reflecting assumptions, methodologies, and sources of information employed during the performance of all analytical tasks.
  • Deliver a high-quality product within established timeframes and budgets.
  • Assist with the development of proposals and participate in other business development initiatives.

What You Will Need To Succeed 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant designation (or in pursuit)
  • 5+ years of relevant post-graduate professional experience in either insurance-focused financial statement audit or insurance-focused litigation and forensic consulting
  • Ability to travel to clients and FTI office(s) as needed
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; this position does not provide visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience with a large accounting firm or professional services consulting firm performing audits and/or investigations
  • Strong technical insurance accounting skills (e.g., statutory, U.S. GAAP)
  • Advanced Excel capabilities and interest in continual self-development of Excel skills
  • Advanced analytical and issue resolution intelligence, problem solving is essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced, multi-tasked environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with team members and client personnel in demanding, deadline-driven situations
  • Ability and willingness to learn and adapt in an ever-changing environment to meet client needs
  • Ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously while managing time and budget
  • Ability to manage and mentor more inexperienced staff
