To manage the Health Information Management Department for NMBHI.
To manage all patient records for over 300 inpatient beds and 1,200 outpatient clients.
To ensure that all licensing and regulatory requirements are met, inlcuding Joint Commission Accreditation.
To ensure compliance with the Health Insurance Portability Protection Act
To provide direct supervision to a team of approximately 24 employees in the department.
Direct and supervises the functions in the medical record systems.
Ensures that health information is complete and available to all staff.
Analyzes data and statistical reports to make recommendations.
Ensures compliance with patient privacy.
Oversees health information improvement projects and initiatives.
Serves as the point person for questions and possible improvements from clinical users of the medical record.
This position supports the patients, residents, and clients of NMBHI.
This position supports all staff at NMBHI.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, records management or administration.
Certification as RHIA or RHIT.
One-year supervisory experience in medal records in either a medical or behavioral health setting.
A Bachelor’s degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional level experience operating within limited parameters and guidelines directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include supervisory and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.
