Job Duties

The Virginia IT Agency (VITA) is seeking a Director of Information Security Program Management. The Director of Information Security Program Management will partner with senior leadership to understand strategic objectives and translate them into clear, measurable tactical components.

The position will:

  • Develop cross-functional project plans that outline departmental roles, responsibilities, timelines, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between security departments, fostering a culture of shared ownership and accountability.
  • Manage dependencies and identify potential roadblocks, proactively developing mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor progress towards the objective, analyze data, and identify areas for improvement or course correction.
  • Regularly report on project progress and overall strategic alignment to senior management.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance cross-functional collaboration and information sharing.
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of strategic integration practices and recommend enhancements.
  • Collaborate with risk director to develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, reports, and metrics related to risk management and compliance efforts.
  • Work with product director to ensure that appropriate security controls and contractual obligations are in place for external parties.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts by evaluating and enhancing security processes, procedures, and controls based on feedback, lessons learned, and industry best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing the organization’s security posture and aligning with strategic objectives.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels and collaborative relationships with various teams, departments, and stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the CISO and Deputy CISO on the status of security initiatives, projects, and operational activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience in security operations, strategy development, and project management within a complex organizational environment.

Strong understanding of risk management, compliance frameworks, and security controls.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and drive results.
