Sagard invests across five asset classes: venture capital & growth, private equity, private credit, real estate and private wealth investment solutions.Sagard is seeking a Senior Director, Legal to join its legal team, which consists of approximately 20 full-time employees, to support the company’s accelerated growth. In this role, you will drive fund operations, M&A initiatives, and legal risk management while optimizing legal processes through automation and Legal AI. You will be crucial in shaping Sagard’s broader legal strategy and influencing high-stakes investment decisions on a global scale. On a daily basis, you will provide strategic legal guidance on a wide range of investment, operational and regulatory matters. Your role will be multifaceted, encompassing a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Driving private investment fund operations, managing structuring, formation, and transactions across multiple jurisdictions;
• Overseeing M&A initiatives, including GP stake investments, platform acquisitions, and post-acquisition integration;
• Developing scalable legal frameworks, optimizing fund documentation, side letters, and regulatory compliance;
• Spearheading legal innovation, implementing automation and AI to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency;
• Collaborating with key stakeholders and teams in investment, finance, tax, and operations to support global expansion.

We’re looking for candidates with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience acquired in a top law firm or an alternative investment manager, with experience in funds.
