position Summary

Performs specific technical duties of a Radiation Dosimetrist and provide assistance for the proper functioning of the department. Under general supervision and medical direction, the Radiation Dosimetrist utilizes standard radiation therapy practice to provide diagnostic evaluation, computerized and manual treatment planning, therapy, and education.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

*Perform and document the simulation and/or localization and treatment planning required for the preparation of the delivery of radiation therapy treatments utilizing unit based protocols, policies and procedures.

*Perform patient dosimetry and check treatment setups and charge for accuracy to maintain high degree of quality assurance.

*Performs required documentation to comply with departmental guidelines for Varis and quality assurance management and improvement.

*Effectively communicate with other health team members and areas of care with regard to the patient’s plan of care for treatment, measured outcomes, and make recommendations for alternative care options. Coordinate care with other members of the health care team to achieve desired goals and outcomes.

*Participate in efforts to improve the performance of the radiation oncology service and organization. Provides director/manager and other clinical leaders with information on issues that pertain to patient safety, opportunities to improve outcomes in care, and improvements in systems and processes.

*Serves as a preceptor and role model for new personnel and students in training.

*Ability to be at work and be on time

*Ability to prioritize and mulittask

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
