Founded in 1956, The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities – in more than 40 countries around the world.

DRC has been providing humanitarian aid in the DR Congo since 2009. Starting out in Province Orientale, DRC has gradually extended its activities in North Kivu and Ituri provinces. The country office is based in Goma.

Overall purpose of the role:

• Support the Grants Manager in the initiatives to expand the portfolios, including contributions to proposal development and program design
• Work with program staff to develop high-quality and timely reports for donors and other country- and HQ-level communications
• Help set up a partnership management unit as part of DRC’s localisation policy

Geographic scope: Country DR Congo

• This role has a country focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the country. The role contributes to the development of country strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to country operations while overseeing country activities.

Responsibilities (non exhaustive):

• Support the Grants Manager in overseeing proposal development processes, including drafting and producing high quality concept notes and proposals
• Support the Grants Manager and Head of Program with the development of strategy and/or drafting of position papers, thought leadership pieces, and other related initiatives leveraging evidence from programs
• Increase visibility and ensure leadership positioning through developing strategic communication materials, such as sector profiles, impact reports, program briefings, leadership and positioning pieces, and other relevant pieces
• Manage reporting workflows and processes between program teams, senior leadership, and HQ to ensure the timely and quality development and review of reports
• Develop and prepare high-quality, timely reports for donors, partners, and government on program progress, ensuring all donor reporting requirements are met and strategically positioned to demonstrate DRCs leadership in programming in the country context
• Support the Grants Manager in providing timely, thorough responses to information requests from internal and external sources
• Lead initiative to identify, research, write, and report on key sector success stories for internal and external audiences, packaging stories that center on evidence to further illustrate impact of the programming
• Work closely with program M&E staff to ensure credible, best-practice monitoring and reporting of program activities
• Ensure developed and design of exceptional communication materials, including reports, activity plans, and information updates
• Serve as main gatekeeper of high-quality reporting and communication activities for all portfolios, drafting original content and providing strategic guidance on positioning and messaging of all reporting and communications materials
• Edit and finalize reports and communications materials
• Correctly use DRC Dynamics functionalities in area of concern

Experience and Technical comptencies

• At least 2 years of professional experience with an INGO
• Familiarity with US and EU donors with special attention to reporting requirements
• Ability to represent DRC to international donors, government officials, local groups and community members
• First experience in partnership management with national NGOs is required
• Knowledge of protection issues is required
• Fluency in French / Advanced English proficiency

Required education

• University degree in international relations, project management, business administration, or equivalent professional qualification .

What we offer

Contract: 6 six Contract with the possibility of extension, subject to funding and performance.

Salary: in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment Non-Management Band/ BG- 6.
