Job Description
Position is responsible for leading and coordinating regional trail management such as rail trails, linear state park trails, snowmobile and ORV trails, non-motorized trails, equestrian trails, pathways, water trails, and other recreation programs that are administered by Parks and Recreation Division. The person will assist the local Unit Supervisors, Managers, and Trail Authorities with the physical implementation and operation of trails for these programs. This position is the recognized resource, coordinating recreation trail management over an assigned geographical area; 6 counties in the western Upper Peninsula. The position will set priorities and assign work in conjunction with other divisions or agencies. They will also work as a liaison between Lansing staff, PRD operations staff, trail coordinators, and trail authorities for trail management. Additionally, this person will establish relationships and cooperatively work with local units of government, users’ groups, as well as other agencies on PRD related trail issues. This position will need to have experience of GIS and other computer-based programs and be able to handle land issues such as trespass, lease administration, user conflicts and land reviews as it relates to state designated trails.

Education and Experience for Departmental Analyst (Departmental Trainee) 9 (FOR CLASSIFIED STATE EMPLOYEES ONLY)
Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Four years of experience as an advanced 9-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.
OR
Three years of experience as an E9, E10, or E11-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.
OR
Two years of experience as an experienced level worker in an ECP Group One technician or paraprofessional classification.
OR
Two years of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
OR
One year of experience as a second-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
*Paraprofessional classifications are those requiring an associate’s degree or two years of college.
Educational Substitution
College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.

Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand 13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
Bonus Programs:Eligible employees with five years of service also receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.
