The Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) aims to deliver to Europeans the
peace of mind that comes with access to healthcare, safe food to eat and protection against
epidemics and diseases. Our goal is to build and maintain Europe’s high standards on food and
feed safety, food sustainability, animal and plant health, as well as the most affordable, accessible
and high-quality health systems to deliver on these expectations.

SANTE’s Directorate A ‘One Health’ plays a key role in ensuring that the multi-faceted nature of
health policy is properly reflected in EU initiatives and operationalising the One Health approach in
DG SANTE and with other DGs, institutions, international organisations, etc.

In this regard, Directorate A is responsible for cross-cutting policy areas such as the fight against
Antimicrobial Resistance, as well as Interinstitutional Relations, Communication and International
Relations (bilateral and multilateral), distributed among five teams.

WE PROPOSE

An interesting job supporting the Director in the organisation and overall management of the
Directorate, including coordination and quality control of briefings, coordination between the
Directorates’ teams, with other Directorates and with other DGs, filtering and prioritising files
submitted to the Director, providing input and advice on specific files and assisting the Director in
policy development and programming and ensuring monitoring and follow-up.

Personal skills
• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, exemplified by an ability to build and maintain

good working relations with a wide range of people in the DG and with other DGs.

• Flexibility and capacity to manage diverse files, with a clear sense of priorities.

Specialist skills and experience
• Ability to demonstrate good insights on the cross-policy dimension of the ‘One Health’ policy

approach..

• Experience with politically sensitive files and international relations.
• Good understanding of Health and food safety challenges.
• Good knowledge and/or experience of Commission internal procedures on decision making and

Better Regulation.
