Under the guidance and supervision of the Education Manager (P4), the Education Specialist will manage the ADB, GPE and WB funded Community Based Education programme. The Specialist supports the development and preparation of the integrated community-based education programmes and is responsible for managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting the progress of all projects under access output in Afghanistan, funded by the ADB, WB, Denmark, and GPE.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • Support to Programme planning and Implementation.
  • Technical and Operational Support to Programme Implementation.
  • Programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results.
  • Networking and partnership building
  •  Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building.

Minimum requirements:

  • An advanced university degree (master’s or higher) in one of the following fields is required: education, economics, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in Education programme planning, management, and/or research in education is required.
  • Experience in partnership management is an asset.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset. 
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
