The incumbent is responsible for the provision of technical support towards equitable inclusive quality education to all staff assigned to him/her in the area and will monitor and support their professional development in cooperation with the School Principal to enhance inclusive teaching and learning and promote safe and effective learning environment in schools. Supervisor: The incumbent reports to the Area Education Officer. Supervisees: The incumbent will supervise a large number of School Counsellors in the area.
Responsibilities
The incumbent: 1. Supports schools and assists counselors directly through team/model, coaching, evaluate work plans and provide assistance where needed, and classroom observation. Provides, explains, and demonstrates instructional resources and materials, and monitors the implementation of up-to-date equitable inclusive quality services at all schools he/she supports. 2. Supports schools and counselors in continuing professional development and school-based counselors development programs, and advises on developing and implementing comprehensive, professional development plans that are aligned with counselors’ competencies, applying a coherent model of support, adult learning strategies and appropriate models of technical support and research-based practices. 3. Assists and advises the School Principals in setting, implementing and evaluating their School Development Plan, and coordinates continuing professional development needs for all schools he/she supports to enhance school ethos and ensures that the needs of the schools are met. 4. Provides support to the different aspect of psychological well being of students and inclusive education, materials and resources to ensure that the needs of all students, teachers and schools are met. 5. Works as a team member and assists on quality assurance implementation to enhance inclusive educational services against set standards and performance indicators for improving quality of schools. 6. Supports counselors, teachers and schools and schools in assessing and analyzing students’ achievements and additional needs by identifying different strategies for all learners in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning. 7. Participates in preparing for interviewing and selection of candidate for counselor posts to ensure criteria applied, and the most qualified and capable counselor are hired; assists School Principals in the performance management of counselor in relation to technical aspects. 8. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education
i. A University degree from an accredited educational institution in school guidance and counseling, teacher counselor, Psychology or a related field; or and at least one year of professional counselor training; or ii. A University degree from an accredited educational institution in school guidance and counseling, teacher counselor, Psychology or a related field and an advanced degree in education. Desirable Qualification: Advanced degree in school guidance and counseling, teacher counselor, Psychology or a related field.

Special Notice
Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment Contract Type: Fixed Term Appointment for 3 years; including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need. Grade and Salary: Grade 13 Monthly basic salary USD1,410.30, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate. Other benefits: Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable).
