How can you make a difference? 

UNICEF Zimbabwe seeks to hire a passionate and dedicated Education Specialist (Learners’ Welfare and Equity) for their education team. The Education Specialist (Learners’ Welfare and Equity) reports to the Education Specialist (Access, Quality and ECE) (P3 Level) for guidance and general supervision.

Purpose for the job:

Under the guidance  of the  Education Specialist (Access, Quality and ECE), the Education Specialist supports the development and preparation of the Education (or a sector of) programmes and is responsible for managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting the progress of education programmes/projects including for Inclusive education community engagement for demand creation for children with disabilities and boys and girls and boys out-of-school or at risk of drop out, also for all safeguarding aspects of children in and around schools within the country programme. The Specialist provides technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of results on education programmes/projects to improve learning outcomes and equitable and inclusive education, especially for children who are marginalized, disadvantaged and excluded in society. Moreover  the Specialist contributes to achievement of results according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), as well as UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance, and accountability framework.

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, economics, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of five years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education is required.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of the local language is an asset.

Desirables:

  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.

Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
