The Donor Engagement & Communications Specialist plays a vital role in sharing the impact of Natün’s work with current and potential supporters through compelling storytelling and strategic donor engagement. This position combines field-based content creation with donor cultivation and stewardship. We seek a dynamic communicator who can craft impactful narratives while building meaningful relationships with donors and program participants.

Responsibilities

Content Creation & Field Work:

  • Conduct regular program visits to document program impact through writing, photography, and video
  • Create compelling written content, including impact stories, website text, blogs, and newsletter articles
  • Develop and maintain a content calendar aligned with organizational priorities
  • Ensure all content reflects our values and commitment to dignity and cultural sensitivity

Donor Cultivation & Fundraising:

  • Identify opportunities and develop strategies for donor engagement
  • Write and coordinate donor correspondence, including updates, appeals, and stewardship materials
  • Develop and execute donor acquisition and retention strategies
  • Support management in the development and execution of the annual fundraising calendar, including campaigns, giving days, and events

Strategic Support:

  • Analyze communication effectiveness and donor engagement metrics
  • Support development of fundraising and engagement strategies
  • Assist with donor events and site visits, including translating between English and Spanish
  • Provide strategic input on donor cultivation approaches

Profile

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Experience in storytelling, journalism, or content creation
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and experience working in cross-cultural environments
  • Experience in donor relations or fundraising, ideally in donor cultivation strategies
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and ethical storytelling
  • Ability to conduct regular field visits in rural communities
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Passionate about Indigenous rights and community-led development
  • Understanding of dignity-based development communications
  • Experience with digital content management
  • Interest in the multicultural context of rural Indigenous communities in Sololá / Guatemala

The successful applicant will work in Guatemala (location flexible) for a minimum 2-year commitment. We have a flexible working-from-home policy, but a regular presence in the Panajachel office and field (Sololá department) will be necessary.
